Just wanted to add that my daughter also protested during tummy time and when I first put her to sleep on her tummy she fussed a bit, but then slept for 2 hours. Once she started rolling over, tummy sleeping was what she chose. Not saying this will help your son's nap deprivation, agree with Anna that maturity plays an important role, but it may be worth a try if doc oks it.
