It sounds to me like you have a pretty good schedule going. 2 hrs of wake time after wake up for the day is good at that age. And that early bedtime will only help things. That is what helped us keep my dd rested while she was going through the short nap period. And it sounds like she is a self soother-you put her down awake and she falls asleep on her own-which is also a great thing. It really sounds like you are doing everything right.
If you go only 2 hrs of wake time after the 1st nap and the 2nd nap is also short, what happens? Can you get a third shorty in? That is what we used to do to get to bedtime. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. 3 naps until 9 months or so is okay I think, especially if it doesn't interfe w/ the early bedtime. I remember getting 5 half hour naps a couple of times in the early days! This too shall pass, so I say keep doing what you are doing, and eventually things will come together!
