One more idea...

I think my daughter felt like we were "dumping" her in her crib every night at bedtime. So she wailed and wailed for hours once she knew what was coming.

We started playing with her more in her room during the day and just before bedtime so she would know it's a fun place to be. Also, at bedtime, if she's being uncooperative, we lie down with her on the floor and pretend to go to sleep. Once she calms down and gets sleepy, we put her in her crib with her pacifier and roll her on her side. It usually works!
