We are desperate to start sleep training our 4 month old son. He usually falls asleep at night by the time he finishes his bottle (8:30) and then awakens at 2am for another bottle (again falling asleep) and then wakes up for the day around 7am. Naps are horrible- i have to rock him to sleep, and then he wakes up every 15 minutes.
I've read both Ferber and Mindell's books, and thinking of trying Mindells approach...however, I have several questions:
1. The book says to start with sleep training at the regular bedtime, wait two weeks, then train for the nightime awakenings, wait two weeks, then train for the naps. However, what should I do about the regular bedtime sleep training? He's quite used to the bath, bottle and bed routine, and it's really not a problem for us....can I just jump right ahead to the naptime training? I'm hesitant to not feed him when he wakes up at 2am, he seems really hungry.
2. We're going on vacation in 2 weeks, so should we wait until we get back to start or does that not matter?
