You should feel lucky if your infant sleeps this long during the night. Usually no long sleep periods until 4 months old. Naps will not be regular in time or length. If you read some of the posting here you would see it could be a lot worse.

Their circadian rhythms do not develop till they are 4-6 months old, so they can become hungry at any time and sleepy at any time. Look for clues to what they may be wanting. The American Pediatric Association has published warnings about trying to create schedules for infants that have not developed their biological (circadian) rhythms. It may be harmful to try and feed infants when they are not hungry or not feed them when they are hungry, but that is exactly what can happen if you try to put them on a schedule before they are ready to adapt to schedules. There are books that recommend this and the APA has warned against using the methods in these books.
