At 3 mos. started to not sleep very well after learning to sleep thru night. For last 5 mos. problem has gotten worse. A GOOD night is <5 times waking, FAIR is 5-7X, BAD is 8-10X, anything over 10X is HORRIBLE.
He 's generally a good baby during day & takes a few hour long naps. His problem @ night is the gas. We have kicked ourselves again and again thinking our actions were perpetuating this, but in the last few weeks it is very obvious that the trapped gas he can't release is the culprit. We just can't find the cause.
Things we've tried:
1) changing formulas including Nutrimegin, goat's milk & soy (was breastfed & suppl. w/ formula from birth).
2) thickening formula with cereal or changing sleeping position.
3) stopped breastfeeding @ 5.5 mos. to see if that was it.
4) has been on Mylicon, Prilosec & another reflux medicine.
5) has had a sonogram of his stomach, kidneys, liver, and such.
6) switched to 2% Milk on advice of friend to see if he had an intollerance for the starches in formula (actually been marginally better, until the last 3 nights where he was in the HORRIBLE range).
7) most recent, an endoscopy of his esophogus to check for reflux.All which have not worked very well or came back normal.
He is seeing a gastroenerologist, but we seem to be running out of ideas. The only thing that I can think of is sleep apnea, and that may be a stretch. He has a few symptoms, but I don't know that much about it. My next plan is an Alergist.
Does anyone have any other ideas?!!!! My husband and I work fulltime and are close to our breaking point, as all of our family live at least 600 miles away!
