I did sleep training with my 6 month old and it did take a long time but certainly not 2 weeks. My daughter was needing only 2 naps a day at that point and she would be up for 3 hours from the time she woke up until it was nap time. I stuck to a strick schedule and made sure that I would wake her up at the same time each morning to make sure that she was ready for a nap at the same time each day. She would only sleep for 40 minutes of the nap time. It would take her about 20 min. to fall asleep, then 40 min. of sleep and then more crying. It was miserable. She would get up at 7, nap at 10-11:30, nap at 2:30-4, and bedtime was at 7:30. I had to be really consistent for 2 weeks and then we could start being a little more flexible as needed. In about 5 days she was used the longer naps and has consistently been napping 1 1/2 hours since.
