8 mo. old takes short naps - Help!

Hi!

My little boy is almost 8 months old. He takes about 3 short naps every day (30 min.). He has done this for the last 5 months or so.

I was hoping this would change, but it hasn't. Lately, he is has become more fussy (he used to be fussy and then got a little better at about 6 months). I feel that he really needs to nap longer to be happy.

Any suggestions? I have read many books. I am not sure if I should let him cry or what I should do. If I let him cry ... for how long? He does not respond well to any soothing techniques. I have tried to soothe him back to sleep before the 30 min. mark and it just doesn't work.

We put him down on his back but he usually rolls over to his stomach.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
