First you should read http://www.sleepnet.com/infant.html if you haven't already.

The term "sleeping like a baby" is used to describe very peaceful, silent, effortless sleep. If your infant is making noise it could be a sign of a sleep disorder, possibly and sleep related breathing disorder, and needs to be accessed by a pediatric sleep specialist.

If you can make a video with audio of him sleeping while making the noise, the doc may be able to make the diagnosis without a sleep study. Try to expose his stomach while making the video, it will help with the cause.

You should see the sleep doc asap, this is the age when we need proper sleep to develop normally.

Best wishes,
Sandman
