5weeks old sleeping problem

i have a 5 weeks old baby boy. I have to hold him, so he can sleep, once I put him down he'll be awake. even when im holding him, he won't stay asleep unless im walking aroung or rocking him.
he is so cranky if he wakes up too often, but i cant walk around with him all day.
i know newborns want to be held 24/7 but when will he learn to sleep on his own?also, i really need some advice so he can stay asleep longer. i tried swadding him, but he hates it, he will try to get his arms out everytime.
