And, I am just wondering if others who do not respond to any traditional therapy might benefit from narcotics. At least for me these medications offer no real riisk of addiction. Since I started taking Methadone about six months ago, I have myself changed the dosage downward to a minimum of about 3 mg of Methadone. I am allergic to Morphine. Currently I am taking 12.5 mg. of Methadone due to an extreme allergic reaction to a new psychotropic drug that my doctor gave me as a sample. My doctor, through a letter from my wife has finallized just how serious my condition is. I am sleeping well on the 12.5 Methadone, 7.5 mg. Ambien, 1 teaspoon of Tussenex, a minor narcotic. I vary the Tussenex up and down as the need arises from about 1 1/2 Teaspoons down to 1/2 a Teapoon. I also take one ounce of my herbal formulation which is referenced in other places on this site. I think that I will become in need of long term care within six months and I don't expect to live more than one more year. I am still a very active person even on the narcotics. I just do not know if it is too dangerous to prescribe narcotics to seriously ill people in general. I certainly did not expect to be dependent upon narcotics 10 years ago when I first began to become more and more sick from prescription drugs. I just take one day at a time, something that I can recommend to anyone.
