Mary,

I have talked with quite a few people that have either developed insomnia for the first time after a surgery, or it's become increasingly worse than before. I have talked with numerous types of doctors about this, as my insomnia became uncontrollable after a major surgery I had. Two doctors, one being a cardiologist, had the theory that due to the intrusion of the surgery on the body, that the body was actually afraid to go back to sleep for fear of another major intrusion. For the 20 years I've had insomnia, and everything I've heard people say on this forum and in everyday life, I have no reason to disbelieve this theory, however, it still doesn't answer the age old question, why do some people have insomnia, and will there ever really be a common cure for everyone.....
