Posted by sakina on December 02, 1998 at 14:41:08:Maybe someone else knows about this. All the time I swear I was up all night, but extremely drugged out on sleeping pills. My boyfriend, at times, claims I was sleeping. Is he just trying to reassure me? My experience is a dreamy state and frequent looking at the clock, then feeling like I am laying in bed long periods of time. Also, frustration at not being able to sleep. As far as I can tell, I've been up the past two nights, in fact. Both nights I tried to sleep and failed, got up feeling grim and miserable, nervous and crying, sick feeling. The first night I tried at one am, with pills, and I know I was still up watching tv at two am, then eating b'fast at four am. Not too much confusion there. In between I felt I was laying in bed thinking for two hours, but quite conscious of time passing.
Last night is a little more confusing. I want to make some sense of this stuff! Went to bed at 9:30 pm. Took my pills. Lay in bed a good long time. B'rfriend came in at 11 o'clock. I got out of bed and talked to him for a while. At midnight we got into bed. I took some more sleeping pills. Lay there for HOURS. Thinking away. My boyfriend claims I was asleep. I think I was just drugged! He says he was looking right at me and I was breathing deep and looked asleep. At four am I got up and had a bad headache. Went downstairs, took two more sleeping pills, got back in bed with him. I was very frustrated at this point. It was the second night, so... After that I am SURE I did not sleep. I lay in bed and watched the sun rise. Felt the pills wear off.
Could I be sleeping so lightly, or waking up so often that I just think I am awake? I have heard about this, but can it really happen? Actually, I feel pretty good today for being up for so long:) Maybe I am sleeping a little?
I am going to get a video camera and tape myself. Every ten minutes I am awake I am going to raise my finger. Has anyone tried anything like this? Does it sound stupid? I hate feeling confused about this stuff.
Does anyone have insight about this strange nocturnal discrepancy?
P.S. I NEVER feel too rested no matter what.
