3 Days No Sleep
Posted by Nick on December 07, 1998 at 16:38:32:Three times I went for more than 70 hrs without any sleep. One time was just to see the limits of my body. The other two were just because I couldn't fall asleep. I just went through my normal daily and nightly routines and did experience some visual impairments such as seeing spots and some trails. Also auditory reactions such as elevated sound perception such as noticing the humming of the refrigerator and other noises along those lines. Than there was this time that I drove for 34 hrs cross country without sleep relying on desire and coffee to stay aware. I did in about the 29th hr experience one time that I thought that I did fall asleep and say some very visual should I say dreamlike images, almost like I was an active participant in them. Then I snapped back to the road but it seemed that I was still in the same place on the highway. Almost like I went in a circle, but I think that I fell asleep only for a second or two but it seemed much longer than that. In retrospect I would never do that again due to safety concerns but the dreamlike state that I experienced was so seductive and lifelike I am not sure how to explain it properly. Anyway just thought that I would drop this little bit of personal experiences for others to read. By the way I am in my mid 20s, anyone ever experience that?
