I don't know if the two are related, but sleep deprivation can effect your ability to concentrate and learn. I have heard of many cases of people with severe insomnia, being misdignosed with learning disabilities, including young children. Many doctors can't tell the difference because they are uneducated about the effects of sleep deprivation.
