Hi there and welcome,

It is absolutely important to be nice to yourself and find a good therapist or psychiatrist who you trust and who can give you good advice on medication and cognitive methods.

Heat and humidity are horrid; during my years in Baltimore I would get at most 2 hrs sleep for weeks at a time in the summer. I am so happy to be back in a dry climate, but fortunately for me I could drag my husband with me. Unfortunately, I still get clobbered by insomnia every once in a while.

I bet your girlfriend would be understanding and you can probably come up with a compromise that will let you sleep. Don't feel badly about your sensitivity to things that disturb sleep -- like others have said, with so many changes in your life, it's no wonder!

A.N.
