Lynne, I am new to this and so glad to have found this. I have been trying to find a support group in the NY area for people with this horrific problem. No luck at all!!! It is so difficult to have a positive attitude when you are so weak from constant fatique. As of now I can only sympathize. I haven't had a good night in about two months no matter how much I exercise, sleep hygiene, relaxation. I finally realize that especially a Sonata or Ambien make me feel so much worse on top of not sleeping. They just don't work for me. My social life too has suffered enormously. I have stopped making commitments because it just adds to the stress. I am going today to my final visit to a sleep doctor. I have been to many but always think that just maybe there may be a grain of something she might say to help. I keep trying to tell myself to accept this severe problem but I can't. Just want to say that you probably feel worse than usual today because of that Sonata. If I get any positive advice from the doctor I'll pass if on.
