I forgot to answer your question re sleep restriction. for me, it was the key that led to my recovery. Everyone is different, and perhaps I just tried it at the right time when I was ready or something (or desparate) but it really was a turning point for me, and although I don't really pracice it anymore (other than not letting myself doze off on the couch before bed), I feel that most nights I am getting a deeper sleep than I used to before my chronic insomnia, with less wakenings. I attribute that to getting up at the same time 7 days per week.

All I can say is, give it a fair shot. I had to do it for several months before it seemed to help, so don't give up too easily. If you really feel it doesn't help after a good long try, try something else. I think the key is to not give up.
