Rachel,
I've been on 10mg. Ambien for 3 months. I've had some crazy hallucinations after waking up and my memory was rapidly deteriorating which is what provoked me to quit taking the Ambien immediately. I've also read others tapering off but I for one just wanted to detox.

Since quitting my insomnia became worse, not much sleep since Sunday but last night I think I finally got some quality sleep and I feel decent today.

The biggest issue is the anxiety about not sleeping. Try to keep a positive attitude and relax as much as possible. I'm feeling like the fog is lifting and there is hope.

It may not have been a wisest choice but I'm not sure the medical professionals really understand all the in's and out's of withdrawal or side effects of these meds.

It's always best to defer to the professionals for opinions as we are all different as to our experiences. I hope this helps.
