To M,
Hang in there! It gets better over time. Oh, How i hate that word time. I experienced
all of the adverse effects that you describe in your tapering off process of elavil. It took me 8 weeks to taper off 50 mg of elavil, after taking it for 3 plus years. Currently , i'm trying to taper off 5mg of ambien and my final tapering off battle will be with 150mg of trazadone. Oh, what a tangled web we weave for ourselves. The vicious merry-go-round of sleep medications and trying to get off them. I still experience a decrease in my delta stage of sleep(deep sleep) and an increase in rem stage(dream sleep). I've been off the 50 mg of elavil for 6 weeks now. I still practice sleep restriction and i exercise, pray and meditate on a daily basis. My sleep has been slowly improving. I very rarely have any more 0 hour sleep nights since i stopped taking elavil. Keep the faith and God Bless.
