anxiety was caused by secret sleep apnea

Posted by westernjoe on January 06, 2002 at 14:17:36:

I've started reading this insomnia forum and see a lot of people dealing with anxiety/panic. My story started this way and of course my dr did the usual xanax thing. The result in my case was sleep apnea. All I knew is that when I began to fall asleep I would have unexplained anxiety, then it started happening when it started getting dark outside. My body was trying to tell me that sleeping was life threatening. This was caused by VERY MILD sleep apnea (only 5.5 events per hour). I'm fixed now after treating the apnea (cpap). I wanted to say this because a posting like this could have saved me months of insomnia since I was 'sure' I didnt have apnea and didnt persue that area. Hopefully someone will be helped, please let us know if it does.
