question on tapering

Posted by marina on January 08, 2002 at 12:04:09:

i've been taking klonopin for about a year now...started on 1mg and have now whittled myself down to .25mg.
this wk i'm going to cut that in half and hopefully by feb., will be taking nothing.
i'm just curious - when one tapers like this and ends up taking a fraction of what they'd begun with (not to mention building up a tolerance to THAT), is this lower dose akin to nothing more, really, than a 'security blanket'...and in effect you're pretty much bordering on sleeping 'on your own' ?
(hoping anyway!)
thanks.
