Dear Ellie, I feel so very sorry for you and I wish I could do something to help you .I know exactly how you feel. For about three years I felt that way. My brain was screaming and I was sooooooooo tired.I also thought that I would never make it .I am wondering...Do you spend your days thinking about not sleeping? I know it is the most difficult thing in the world not to do but when I finally stopped obsessing about sleep and making it the main event of the day things started getting better. I also know how hard it is to function when you have had little or no sleep.. It does lack joy and fulfillment and feels as if you are just pushing your body around without knowing why. But there is always a new day , and with it a new possibility. I don't know the circumstances of your life, whether you work or not but it is important to have constants in your life that ground you and make you feel useful. My dog, and love of animals and the activism I do is something that has meaning. Cooking healthy meals also has meaning.Do you have anything significant purpose in your life that makes you feel necesary? Maybe you can get involved with something that doesn't take alot of physical energy but will take your mind off of your problem as Knitting{maybe you can make a blanket for someone who is homeless} , volunteering once a week in a learn to read program helping adults that are illiterate, learning about herbs and their wonderful uses in cooking, taking a pottery or ceramic class, etc.Maybe you will find something that captivates your attention , and keeps you from ruminating on your sleep problem. I am not sure about your history of using meds. I have to look back at your posts . I vaguely remember that you had used meds for years and are no longer taking them. The most important thing is to positively affirm. I know it often feels silly, not worthwhile, and superfluous, but it keeps you from getting into a severly depressed state, and allows your bodymind to make the right connections. Also walking preperably in the outdoors is wonderful. Maybe you can do two half hour stints, one in the morning early, and one in late afternoon. You can walk slowly and observe what is going on in your body.Try to release negative thoughts as you walk. There is a Buddhist monk named Thitch Hat Nah who is responsible for somehing called mindfulness . He also engages a process called walking meditation. It is very good therapy.I will look back at your posts to see if there is anything I have missed. In the mean time Ellie, don't give up. Something will eventually help you......Hope
