Sorry to hear you are still having difficulty. I read your posts all the time, and you both are clearly still completely obsessed with sleep. You have to get over this. You have to ingrain in your mind that you can't do anything about sleep and forget about it. Get confident that your body will sleep on its own when it's ready. Instead of focusing on sleep, focus on your goals in life. When I'm very focused and excited about achieving something, then I sleep better because sleep doesn't matter. I'm doing things that I love. Right now I'm focused on making partner at my firm and buying a new house. Both are things I really want and must work hard to achieve. These things are much more important than sleep, and consequently I've slept better lately.

Also, I've finally committed to sleep restriction (6 to 7 hours per night) and instead of dreading staying up or getting anxious near my bedtime, I actually get excited because I know I'm doing things to combat my insomnia. Even getting out of bed when I can't sleep is no longer a chore because, again, I'm doing things to combat my insomnia. I've accepted the fact that I can NEVER make myslef sleep, not by reading, not by watching TV, not by deep breathing, not by muscle relaxation. But I know my body will sleep on its own when I get involved in things I enjoy. So I've been focusing on things I enjoy more and I've been getting better.
