Posted by Steve on February 15, 2002 at 10:38:54:Well, I finally bit the bullet and let my doctor prescribe me 50 mg Trazodone to help stop my mind from racing and let me get to sleep. It works like a charm, but there's just one problem. When it's time to get out of bed in the morning, I have a hell of a time initially waking up. Once I get out of bed, I can function, but if get less than 7 hours or so, I feel tired and "out of it" most of the day (I think this is an effect of the medicine still being in my system, it's almost like it's working too well). If I can sleep for 7-8 hours (like last night), then once I get out of bed, I'm fine (although waking up is still hard, my eyes keep wanting to close again and my brain keeps wanting to go back to sleep. I'm grateful that this stuff allows me to fall asleep more quickly, not wake up so many times during the night (and go right back to sleep if I do), and generally get lots more sleep than normal, but I'm wondering if I should cut the tablets in half and take only 25 mg at night. Has anyone else else experienced this with trazodone, and if so, did lowering the dose help? I'm going to try sleeping without it tonight (I don't want to get too dependent on it, and it is the weekend after all), but I 'd like to not have to drag myself out of bed every morning.
