Thanks so much for your support and kind words. It’s great to be able to turn to people who know how miserable insomnia can be. No one I know seems to fully understand with the exception of my husband.
Thankfully I finally got some decent sleep last night, not enough to recover but at least I don’t feel like jumping out of the window today. Something my husband said during the evening did help me quite a bit so I thought I’d pass it on. He told me about the sailors in the 16th century who in preparing for a storm battenend down the hatches let fly the sails and tied themselves to their bunks. Basically they then let the storm do it’s worst and rode it out. As my husband pointed out I was so busy fighting and struggling my masts were in danger of snapping completely! I guess this is just another version of the going with the flow thing but sometimes it does seem to help. I think you are so right Crusader in that I suspect that insomnia for many of us is tied in with constantly struggling to please others and be as they want us to be rather than being ourselves.
Rita, I really feel for you as I know exactly what you’re going through, please take heart in knowing that it is possible to get off the pills as many have done so. It isn’t easy as I know all too well but I think it’s worth it if they are no longer helping you. I hope you feel better soon. Nell
