Lynne - Thank for your long response and sound advise (as usual!) ..... perhaps you should write your own book on overcoming insomnia! I think your post (along with Leological's & Scott M's) is very helpful for anyone who is desperate to stop relying on medication for sleep.
In spite of the horrible week just gone I know I'm better of without the pills as I have had good days recently as well (previously they were ALL bad!). It's very difficult to get out of a really vicious cycle of insomnia once it starts though and then it's VERY tempting to take something in the hope of some respite. Wish I could bring myself to throw all the pills away! Will try the techniques you mention when I'm next in trouble. Thanks again for your help. Nell
