Janie - sorry to hear you're having a tough time - I don't think anyone really appreciates the suffering involved with insomnia unless they are an insomniac! I wouldn't say I'm that optimistic (although I am trying to be) just a bit less desperate at the moment! (I have fortunately been getting some sleep the last few nights). I wish I knew why these bad phases of total insomnia started and also why they do finally stop so that I could advise! I think I was just so exhausted that my body finally had to sleep (I suppose we can take comfort from the fact that everyone will sleep eventually), also I do think that Lynne is right in that how you react to the really bad nights depends on how quickly you recover ie telling yourself it will get better etc rather than constantly panicking (am still working on that one!). Hope you feel better soon. Nell
