Thanks for the message Aussie. It's great to know you have friends you can talk to here who understand you, isn't it? I'm glad you're seeing a therapist who you trust, but I'm sorry that you're feeling so depressed.
Have you tried reading some spiritual, uplifting books regularly, either 'self-help' ones or Buddhist ones? I found them helpful in developing a different way of thinking and feeling less sorry for myself, because the ones I have read (can't remember the names offhand, but there are many such books) help you to realise that you have to try to accept yourself and your life as it is, and appreciate the small things, appreciate what you have instead of being negative over what you haven't got (e.g. the perfect job). If you read enough of this stuff, I think it does finally begin to sink in.
Also, in my experience, there is no such thing as the perfect job. Every job has its downsides and becomes routine and boring after a while. So you just have to learn to accept it. Easier said than done, I know. However, you can only try. In my view, the Buddhists really do have a good philosophy for living, so you might like to read some simple 'beginners' books on it (some books can be a bit unnecessarily complicated). As regards the agitated fiance, I know you might not like this, but why not try sleeping separately for a while, at least to get your sleep back together again. I'm sure he would be happy if you were happier. Don't even think about having to go to a psychiatric hospital - that's negative thinking. You sound perfectly sane and intelligent to me. Just work on being more positive and on making yourself happy. You know, I read that in India in some of the poorest, dirtiest places on earth, the people always have these wonderful smiles and appear to be happy - if that's not mind over matter, what is? If you make a point of seeing things in their most positive light, you will make yourself happy (and, as a result, everyone around you).
Take care and best wishes,
L.
