the effects of meditation

Posted by Edmund on February 20, 2002 at 07:19:15:

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there has tried meditation to help themselves? I've been trying to use it every day, focusing completely on my breath and trying to relax my body. The problem is that when I try to relax and let my breath become natural, I get this wave of anxiety where I break out in a sweat and feel like I have to stop. Its like I'm fighting something within myself to try and relax. IT seems to me like if I was able to get relaxed enough in meditation, I would have no problem sleeping (because isn't that a byproduct of relaxation?) Anyways, I was wondering if anyone else here has tried meditation, and if they've come up against similar problems.

.

Edmund
