Feel so alone with insomnia

Posted by Skygirl on February 20, 2002 at 09:14:06:

I have been in touch with this site since December when my doctor told me to "find help on the internet for my insomnia" or to just deal with it. I'm still angry at her insensitivity but have not yet found a new doctor. I have tried the books, herbs, Ambien, acupuncture, Excedrin PM, melatonin, HGH, etc. I have spent hours on the internet and tried my local "very pathetic" library for answers. The sleep clinic in my town seems more geared toward sleep apnea which I don't have. My problem is that I go to sleep O-K, but only sleep 1 or 2 hours and wake up. I get hot and my heart starts beating rapidly and I know then that I'm awake for the rest of the night. I do tend to worry about my 17-year old daughter although I have no reason to worry because she has never been a problem. I just worry if she will get into her first choice of college, and if she goes out at night, I don't sleep until she gets home. I'm hoping when she does go to college, I'll sleep better. My husband keeps telling me to quit obsessing about not sleeping. (Nothing bothers him; he could sleep standing up). Also, my friends do not have sleep problems and they don't understand what I'm going through. At least looking at this site, I know that I'm not alone.
