I had the same problem -- my hobbies are also sports and reading. It was difficult to turn my mind to my favorite sport activities, since I would then think of how much better I would be at the sport if only I had a decent night's sleep! And reading just wasn't enough of a distraction.

I was about ready to buy a piano (hadn't really played since I was in high school), when we started some major home improvement projects. These turned out to be PERFECT as fun and productive after-work activities, and things to really think about instead of sleep.

We're still going to get a piano, too!
