Hi...I was a long term meditator for years and never had insomnia. I eventually stopped meditating. Of course I didn't get insomnia for years so I cannot relate the discontinued meditation to the insomnia. I think what is happening to you is similar to what happened to me when I started hypnosis. You are so full of fear, so desiring of wanting this to work, and so judjemental if you are proceeding correctly, that these mental conditions are exacerbating the anxiety and heightening it. Before you start meditating breath in asnd out deeply and count down from 10 to 1. Take deep diaphramatic breaths expanding your belly and rib cage on the in breath and releasing the breath through your mouth as you would a sigh. Pull in and push out as much air as you can short of hyperventilating of course. Let the thoughts come in , do not push them out, let them exit naturally as you continue to breath. Eventually your breath will find a steady rhythm and you will not be conscious at all of the procedure.Keep reminding yourself that no one is judging you, and you are not being tested.I think you will eventually succeed. When I did T. M. for all those years half the time I became so relaxed that I fell asleep. Try to meditate the first thing in the morning before the sun comes up and face east. In the afternoon mediatate before dinner and face west. Do not meditate a few hours before bedtime. I wish you luck. Let me know how you do...Hope
