Janie - in answer to your questions, firstly I'm not seeing a cognitive therapist but keep toying with the idea of making an appointment as this is the one thing I haven't tried yet in my battle with insomnia and I have heard that it can be quite successful treatment. I actually got as far as contacting a therapist before Christmas but it didn't materialise (illness in her family etc) at the time and I haven't got around to making another appointment. I think what's stopping me is that over the last 20 years I've spent a small fortune on possible 'cures' - most recently a long course of pyschotherapy (which I think did benefit a bit in that I now have a few ideas as to why I don't sleep) but I'm still not cured. Also, I think Lynne is right and at the end of the day the only one who can bring about a cure is myself. I know what to do - doing it is the difficult bit!
Secondly, with the exception of my relapse last week (a hefty dose of valium one night!) I have managed not to take any medication over the last 11 weeks. This has taken a monumental effort and I don't know if I can keep it up (am taking each day at a time). All I know is that I really don't want to go back to relying on Clonazapam. Good luck with the tapering. Nell
