Hi Lawrence,
As a chronic insomnia sufferer, and having been on both Ativan and a similar drug, Klonipin..I'll be honest with you, it's not going to be easy coming off of the drug. Obviously you've seen that already. They both are in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines, highly addictive. It took me three long years to come off of the Klonipin, but I had been on it for a long time, too. I experienced terrible insomnia and nightmares. I truly hope you have a much easier time coming off of Ativan. Best of luck. :)
