Not sleepy at night

Posted by Taylor on April 18, 2002 at 08:54:58:

Hello everyone!

This is my first visit here. I am a 23-year student with sleeping problems. In my case I fall asleep late, because sometimes I am not tired. This usually goes on for a couple of days or a week. I feel rather fine those days, but when I start sleeping normal again I tend to sleep too long/too deep (>8 hours, sometimes even 12 hours) and I feel sleepy/tired all day and have headaches. I don't get up early, because I don't hear the alarm-bell. After a good night I have no problem falling asleep because of the sleepiness during the day. I go to bed at almost the same time each night, no matter how I slept the night before. I tried sleep restriction, which worked. But after a long holiday, it hasn't worked for me :-(.

Does anyone have this problem? What can make me tired when I am not sleepy (I tried excersising late at night, but it has an opposite effect!)?

Thanx all,

Taylor
