Any chance you might have sleep apnea? I don't know much about it but that it is related to breathing abnormalities and obstructions. You might check out the sleep apnea section of this forum and see if any of the experiences are similar to yours. A sleep test would be the usual way of diagnosing it but if you have reason to believe you might suffer from it, it might be worth it to get it diagnosed and treated.

If you think your insomnia might be more anxiety-related, there are other antidepressants that seem to help with generalized anxiety that people on this forum have had success with. I was VERY anti-medication a while ago and I still prefer not to take it but I took Zoloft for a few years and I do think it helped me with anxiety. I gradually tried to use other things (yoga, meditation, sleep restriction, etc. to deal with my sleep issues and was able to go off the Zoloft a year ago. So far so good. Others here have talked about Paxil being helpful.

I wish you better sleep soon!
