LL,
I can understand your thought process when you say you may have to medicate the rest of your life. I had similar thoughts however since I'm 51 and hopefully have another 20-30 years ahead of me (go gene research), I figured that was a long time to be on sleep medications.
I'm going to try lifestyle changes... I exercise daily, eat lots of fresh fruits and Veggies, and don't stress out about work like I used to. Yeah, I cheat enough (diet) to where I'm in no danger of wasting away LOL, but I'm going to give it at least 6 months drug free and see if I can resume sleeping well.
Perhaps you need to first uncover and then deal with the isssues that caused the initial panic/anxiety attacks. Maybe when you fix that the sleep will follow. Anyway, hang in there.
David
