Martha...Never underestimate the power of the mind....as you think, so shall it be!!!You say you know yourself well enough that at some point in the future you will have insomnia..rest assured it will happen. Now, to change negative thinking patterns, you also say you've slert well for 2 weeks without meds....why not build on that? Instead of ruminating about what might be, tell yourself that you will continue on one day at a time with good sleep...every day your confidence will grow. Life will throw stressors at you...like everyone.....but people without insomnia just meet them as they come, do the best they can and don't exacerbate the problem with more suffering caused by lack of sleep...I've adopted a new motto if any old angst starts to creep in and I just say to myself,"I'm not going to deprive myself anymore....."...of anything good for me...sleep included...but I don't focus on that. Otherwise the obsessive thinking can set in....and I move on. Have been sleeping well for several months now..med free. Remember, meds are a habit and if properly weaned off and if you replace distorted, destructive thinking, you can move forward with new skills and a respectful attitude toward yourself. Good Luck....A.
