Hi Paul....Sorry to hear about the relapse, but you can get back on track....you were such an inspiration for so many on this forum that we're all pulling for you. It's the darned getting up early bit isn't it....you must have ignored it all the time you were away because if you slept in for a morning or two, that wouldn't throw you off to that extent.
Abby, to answer your questions about the sleep restriction(bad choice of a word that "restriction" one), there is flexibility with it. As far as I'm concerned, if you have a job with regular hours that force you to get up at the same time(approx.) every morning, you're already on sleep restriction...I think "regularity" would be a better word for the program as that is in fact what it attempts to do. The usage of restriction initially, is just to prevent you from idling away in bed if a sleepless night was had for some reason. We are creatures of habit and unfortunately, some tend to perpetuate "bad" ones when it comes to sleep!!!
Good Luck, Paul...you can do it!!! Get back to those early morning walks in that glorious climate and scenery you're lucky enough to live near. Nothing wrong with having Ambien or whatever with you when you travel...just in case...reduces the anxiety sometimes. J.
