That's terrible. Xanax is meant to be taken no more than 4-6 weeks. It is a member of the benzodiazepine family which are said to be more addictive than heroin. You overcome the immediate physical withdrawl of heroin in 72 hours. It can take weeks to come down from a drug like xanax. Benzodiazepines are meant for short-term treatments only. When you take them more than a few weeks you create a worse problem than the one you had initially. Coming down from these drugs causes heightened anxiety and rebound insomnia which is worse than the original insomnia.
I remember when the first two benzodiazepines came out. Roche Pharmaceuticals started with librium, followed by valium a couple years later. The original intent of these drugs was to cure alcoholism. Can you imagine that? You quit drinking so you get hooked on one of these pills instead.
I have heard of chamoille tea but would never imagine it would help to overcome such a powerful drug. Sounds like you whipped the addiction. So glad for you. You would be a good testimonial for others with such addictions.
