very low dose ambien

Posted by pansi on July 01, 2002 at 11:33:36:

Here's my experience with low-dose ambien: I have had insomnia for over 10 years, off and on. I am now taking ambien pretty regularly
but a very small dose. I typically take 1/8 of a 10 mg tablet (I cut them up with tiny scissors- in advance- it's hard to do in the dark!). If
I'm not asleep by 1/2 hour I'll take another 1/8 and that does the trick. I believe I am psychologically addicted, but maybe not physically
addicted. I see a psychiatrist about every 6 months or so, since my scrips usually last that long or longer. So far he's been ok about
prescribing the ambien, and he even gave me one refill last time! My primary Dr will only prescribe sleep aids once, after that, it is off to
the shrink. Although my experience in general is that shrinks don't usually have much good knowledge concerning insomnia in solitaire
(without independent anxiety or depression). I am caffeine free and try to practice good sleep hygiene, although I'm sure I don't get
enough exercise. I just bought a book (say good night to insomnia) which I am hoping will help me become drug-free.
