Prone = Anxious

My sleep problem is now so bad that whenever I lie down I start to get anxious. In other words, I'm afraid of my bed. If I do manage to get to sleep, I wake up an hour or two later and start to have an anxiety attack. This is a significant deterioration in my sleep habits. (I used to be able to get at least 5 hours of sleep.) Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I might address this horrible phobia without meds? I have an appointment to see a shrink on the 20th...it seems I will have to start meds again.
