Hope, I just wanted to agree with you that meds can be a good thing when desperation sets in. I have both Ambien and Remeron in my medicine cabinet. I use the Ambien if I wake during the night and can't get back to sleep and sometimes, if I can't get to sleep at all. The Remeron I use if I feel my anxiety about sleep building and if I find myself taking Ambien for more than a couple days. These medicines have kept me on track since my initial recovery from insomnia. I only have to take them for a couple days and then I feel more confident to sleep on my own again. I think it is what has prevented me from falling into that insomnia cycle--not sleeping well, worrying about not sleeping well, so then not able to sleep..etc etc. I don't think medications are bad as long as you can keep yourself from becoming mentally or physically dependant.
