Sleep Clinics

Hi everyone! I am new to this website and even though it is extremely comforting to find out that I am "not alone", I'm sorry there are so many of you struggling with insomnia. It's so debilitating.
I have a question for you fellow sufferers who have visited sleep clinics. How on earth did you ever fall asleep under those laboratory conditions? I can't even sleep in my own bed under optimal conditions. This is a question that has always intrigued me. Thanks in advance for your help!
