Which med do you recommend?

Posted by AJM on August 13, 2002 at 18:01:48:

I have avoided the posts on this forum about medications for the most part because I wanted to conquer this insomnia monster med-free. However, the last month and a half has been unbearable and I cannot survive like this. I am moving out on my own again at the end of this week and need to make sure I can get enough sleep to survive like a normal person so I can work, pay bills, and be happy.

I have seen posts about Remeron (I think that's the one). Is this the one also used for depression? Is this a good one to take? I want something that is either non addictive or not easy to get dependent on, but that will work and give me a good night's sleep. I don't like feeling "drugged" or "out of it" so any med that will make me feel like that before bed will freak me out, not make me sleep. I take Ambien occasionally, but I refrain from taking it very often for many different reasons. I need something that can be taken on a regular basis with no bad side effects/psychological effects. And definitely nothing that will cause withdrawal symptoms or rebound insomnia!!

Is there any such thing out there or am I looking for a fairy tale drug? What has everyone had the best success with?
