Re your post Neil, all I can say is WOW!!!I seem to be one of a very few who push nutrition on this wonderful website and am glad to finally have more support in this important area. Where in Canada(city) are you located, if I may ask? I constantly scan the libraries, Health Food stores, etc. etc. for more information on this topic...I firmly believe we are what we eat! The book mentioned by Elizabeth in an earlier post (which I purchased) is a tremendous tool. I believe the MD/psychiatrist who co-authored the book is a Canadian who now teaches at UCLA. Keep the posts coming Neil as we can all learn from them. By the way, after putting on more weight than I should have last year, my doctor was pushing meds for high blood pressure as it had escalated with the weight gain. I said thanks but no thanks and last Feb. really paid attention to what and how much I was eating and in two months the high blood pressure started dropping and yesterday it was 122/75. I'm not advocating that everyone come off their meds for hi bp or anything else but I know I am sleeping better, have normalized my weight and feel better than ever since I started monitoring what I eat and of course I exercise daily. I also have believed in vitamin supplementation for a long time and rigidly take a set of vitamins that work very well for me...thought the need for so much Vitamin C has been looked at and felt to be more around the 500 mark for the whole day...even Dr. A. Weil is of this opinion and I find him to be an excellent authority as he has the benefit of a harvard (western) degree in medicine as well as much holistic experience. Great sharing info with you and hope we can contribute to this forum with a nutritional approach...I was floored when I learned from a friend how little time is spent on nutrition in med school. Regards, A.
