It seems like many of us suffer when the children are young and wake up in the middle of the night. My baby is 16 months old, and I think my body is still on the ready-alert phase when I sleep, because I still wake up every few hours through the night. Sometimes I can get back to sleep and other times, I can't. Something biochemical in me shifted when I had the baby because I used to be a great sleeper bb (before baby). The baby wakes up early (about 6 a.m.) but sometimes, I wake at 4:30 a.m. and can't get back to sleep. My approach to this is to get out of bed and do meditation and yoga. At least, I'm making good use of my time rather than tossing and turning in my bed. Hopefully, our bodies will re-adjust (just in time for menopause, right?) Now, that we can't use HRT, we will have to suffer from hot flashes at night. Oh well, sorry for my ranting and raving. Children take their toll...love them as we do!
p.s. I'm looking for some kind of natural supplement to help me sleep better. any suggestions? I know Liz has used 5-HTP. Does anyone know potential side effects of this?
