Ambien rebound insomnia

Posted by paf on August 29, 2002 at 07:38:19:

Hi everyone. I just discovered this website yesterday and finally feel like I'm not alone. I have had on again off again insomnia for 10 years and it has been every night for 5 years. I have tried everything--most meds that have been discussed here, herbal, behavioral, sleep clinics, etc....
The only thing that has worked for me is 10mg of Ambien which I have been taking almost nightly for 3 years. On top of the insomnia I also on occasion sleepwalk. I have been doing this since I was 7 years old, and it usually flares up more when I am stressed out. It seems like the Ambien has been adding to my sleepwalking, so my goal is to be completely med free ASAP. I have had people mention rebound insomnia, but I don't know what to expect or for how long. I left my Ambien at work yesterday and even with relaxation techniques was so anxious last night that I ended up searching for Ambien that I might have "hidden" somewhere else. I ended up sleeping a total of about 2.5 hours. Any suggestions???
