Your feelings are your feelings and you shouldn't feel upset at yourself for the way you feel. Are you able to discuss with your loved one/s that what they have said was hurtful, even if it seems like a small thing?

I also find that if I'm not well rested, I take things a little more to heart than I normally would, but I let people know that I'm feeling a little more sensitive than usual and usually they're pretty good about it.

If this is something that you experience more frequently and it is causing you further distress, then perhaps the book Heidi suggested might help, or a course on self-esteem.

I would suggest that first you let your loved one know that you are feeling this way, however, so they are at least aware of it. If they don't know then they can't help.

I wish you all the best.
